Fresh Picks & Sustainability Tips: December 2024

As 2024 comes to a close, I’m reminded that…

Sustainability isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of doing business that is, and will be, integral to any business's long-term success.

Consumers are increasingly demanding sustainably produced and sourced products. Retailers, driven by consumer demand and their own ESG commitments, are following suit. They’re requiring suppliers to demonstrate, track, and report their commitment and efforts towards sustainable practices like reducing waste, using renewable energy, implementing IPM, and more.

I know firsthand that implementing a sustainability program can feel daunting, but doing so has significant upside and value. It’s an opportunity to highlight the great things you’re already doing while finding opportunities for improvement.

You don’t have to tackle everything at once. Here are a few ways to ease into your sustainability journey:

  1. Start with Low-Hanging Fruit: Focus on areas where you’ve already made progress. For example, if you’ve been improving water efficiency or reducing waste, use that data to communicate your progress.

  2. Address Pressing Issues: If there’s a particular sustainability topic your customers are asking about, start there.

  3. Follow Your Passion: Sustainability initiatives are much easier to implement when you’re passionate about the issue at hand.

  4. Find a Champion: Identify someone in your organization who can take the lead on these efforts.

Measure to Improve is also here to provide support, whether you are just getting started or already have a robust program. Our team of experts can provide the tools, strategies, and guidance to turn your sustainability goals into reality, ensuring you stay ahead of industry demands and regulations.

Taking that first step towards sustainability may feel like a leap of faith, but waiting is no longer an option. Start today and position yourself as a leader in your industry.

Warmest Regards,

Nikki Cossio - Founder & CEO - Measure to Improve

You’re Done with Your Sustainability Reporting for the Year. Now What?

Sustainability Reporting

Congratulations! You’ve wrapped up your sustainability reporting for CDP, THESIS, or Walmart’s Project Gigaton. The surveys are submitted, and the data is in. Take a deep breath; you did it. But don’t file everything away and forget about it until next year. If you do that, you’re missing out on a big opportunity.

Completing this year’s surveys is the perfect time to reflect on the process, learn from this years’ experience, and set yourself up for an even stronger reporting cycle in 2025.
